To celebrate the launch of my collection of Australian native floral patterns with Nerida Hansen fabrics, I had a chat to the team. We explored my design process, what an average day might look like and my aims for my designs.

It has been a goal of mine for many years to be part of the Nerida Hansen family, so this is something I’m really excited about. Surface patterning and printed fabrics are my life and I’m so happy I can now share them even easier with sewers around the world.

Print & Pattern

For the last few weeks, I've had the pleasure of rewriting a subject on digital print design (patterning) for the Torrens University Bachelor of Branded fashion.

Some of the resources I have been integrating into the subject are the Print & Pattern volumes by Bowie Style.

So, it was a great surprise when I stumbled across Bowie's post documenting my own designs that I had missed when it was posted back in September.

Bowie has a fantastic eye for pattern and prolific output. The Print & Pattern volumes and blog are a treasure trove of amazing designers that I would highly recommend to all designers.

The Complete Pattern Directory

It’s an honour to have my surface pattern design work included in The Complete Pattern Directory. This tome documents work by incredible pattern designers like Vanessa Bell, William Morris, Edith Marx, Lucienne Day and Sonia Delaunay.

This is a brilliant book to own for any print design or surface pattern lover.

Pattern Pulse

I am so proud to have been included in this book. Here you will find 100 of the very many amazing Australian surface pattern designers.

There is no doubt that textile design in Australia has a style of its own. We are bold. We are brash. We are loose with our repeats. And that's what makes this industry really special.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. I could not be more proud of Rachel King and the work she has done on this book. Thank you Rachael, and well done.
